  With a few brewery's around it this place hits the mark. We had the Parrillada set up that serves more than 3 people we had 5. Boom Steak, chicken breast, Adobada pork plus chops and all the trimmings. Server kept asking if we needed anything else great service @ night. Will return to try the home made Chilaquiles and see if this place can get my 5 star rating. Good local night out within walking distance of great brewery's.

  Came in here with 10 family members sunday morning
  Rude ass hispanic lady attended us
  horrible attitude !!!
  She raised her voice about how she wanted an order at a time ?
  She had Glasses and two bracelets
  Service was so bad we left
  They didnt even want to charge us for the drinks of how bad they treated us..
  WHY NOT JUST TELL US YOU DONT WANT OUR BUSINESS

  We are regulars here, let me rephrase that, we were  regulars here. Today's service was horrible. Slowly we have watched the decline of what was once a nice Mexican restaurant. We have followed El Comal to all three of their locations here in Chula Vista.
  
  The service of one awful waitress can ruin a nice dinner out. Unfortunately there's a 50/50 chance you will get her. When you have to remind her about your tortillas, and then 10 minutes later go get them yourself as they sit behind the counter, that's infuriating. Or not listening when you ask for water, no ice, pretty simple. Yes that sounds petty, but what took the cake tonight was how she handled our concern this evening... after ordering two bistec dinners that were HELL HOT from chile. As regulars this is our go to plate. It was unenjoyable, to the point that you could not taste the food. Now, she could have offered to exchange for another meal, or shown some concern. Instead she just let us know, "Some chile's are hotter then others, we can't control that" and did not share our concern with the chef. Any good chef would taste his salsa after each addition of chile to control the heat and make sure it was consistent and tolerable. But see, this is where El Comal fails once again, consistency. The portions of food from one week to the next are never the same! The amount of rice and beans were so small today and drowning in the hell hot ranchero sauce. The Milanesa plate had also bit the dust. Portion sizes are smaller and I wonder if you are ordering a less expensive cut of meat, as there are more chewy nerves throughout the smaller steak.
  
  What a shame El Comal. Mismanaged, or poorly managed, because they are too busy running their other locations and have lost site of what was once a good restaurant with awesome camareros.
  We will now frequent Don Pedro's or Los Gemelos, both on Third avenue.

  I took my mom out to eat today and was really looking forward to it. I was expecting to have some hearty food so I even skipped lunch. Picked her up and this is where she wanted to go. Seriously, of all places!? Whatever, sucked it up. Get here and it's empty. Like no one even behind the counter or in the kitchen. Well, it's so damn slow that all 2-3 staff members are sitting and chitchatting. Stellar.
  
  Chips were stale and the salsa was pretty much colored water. It's incredibly watery which is too bad because it actually had a semi decent taste.
  
  I ordered the torta de milanesa with fries. Figured it was safe. Fries were ok, needed salt. The torta itself was lackluster and the meat was paper thin. I had one slice of avocado and it was only on one half of the torta. Shredded lettuce and I think like 1-2 tomato cubes. I noticed because I wondered if they pulled the lettuce from a salad mix and the tomatoes snuck in .
  
  Total was about $40 which Im not even sure if it was accurate since I never got the actual bill. Had to walk up to the counter to pay. The woman had a bill printed for $37 but then when I asked for it she rang something else up and told me it was $39 and change.
  
  The ONLY redeeming quality this place had was the onions. My mom asked for chiles toreados and they brought them out in a plate with sliced onions. I could have had a whole plate of just the onions and been satisfied.

  The food delicious.. not sure if the owners changed but it is definitely a way better place to eat now... Micheladas are on point as well as the many Mimosa options. Service is slow. I had the red pork Pozole and it was very tasty. I will definitely be back to try something different on the menu
